We had “the big” anatomy scan yesterday morning at my doctor’s office and I admit, I went in to the appointment with my breath held a little. We like the surprise of finding out the baby’s gender at birth, but I always worry a bit that the tech will forget and leak the gender :) But yesterday was a thumbs up appointment and I’m so glad.

Maxwell has been pointing at my tummy and saying “baby”, and just recently he started giving the baby a kiss when I ask for one myself. It’s so super sweet. He has a couple baby friends so he’s learning how to be gentle with them, which is so good. He’s been extra snuggly lately, it’s awesome. He’s going to be a great big brother.

We’ve started a list for baby names to consider. This time around I can only think of girl names; with my first pregnancy it was all boy names. Hmmmmm. :)

A few other super important things to report: my hair feels like it’s growing a lightening speed, afternoon naps are a dear friend, and those crazy pregnancy dreams are visiting me often.

This week in the comments let’s chat about your favorite baby items. With Maxwell, I loved the Puj Tub for baby baths and I’m excited to be using it later this fall :) How about you?

Your baby bump is so adorable! I just love getting to follow the pregnancy updates, I followed during your previous pregnancy too! I can live vicariously through you until we’re ready for another little one :)

I think my favorite baby item we used when she was really little was the solly baby wrap, because she was so little it was the only one we could find to wear her that was approved for under 8 lbs! Now, at 7 months, we love the Fisher Price jumper (which she’s in right now!)

I had two favorite baby items. The first was a plain, no-frills, bouncy seat. I had no idea how helpful that would be, but I used it for all six of our babies, and it was great when I needed to use both my hands without someone strapped onto me. My other favorite item was a Maya wrap style ring sling. I made one from the instructions on Maya Wrap’s website and it was the best carrier I had with any of our babies. (Was kind of sad that it took me until our youngest to find it!)

Congrats on baby #2! We loved the surprise of finding out the gender until birth, too… not too many people wait like we did, so it’s fun to see you guys do!

I totally agree — a good bouncer is so helpful! Especially because you can move it from room to room easily. Thanks for chiming in with your thoughts :)

With baby no. 2 a great sling has literally saved me! I have the Maya Wrap Sling and love it. I can keep the wee one close while tending to the older one as well as do things around the house. I’ve also really loved having a Rock-n-Play. Another great asset I found this time around. Good luck with the new babe. That’s so exciting!

A sling is one of the most commented on items so far — I’ll have to look into that. We have a couple carriers, an Ergo and a Bjorn, but not a wrap/sling. XO

I would definitely recommend going with a sling. I have a ton of other style of carriers that came in handy at various points of babyhood but the ring sling is the only one I’ve used from newborn all the way through toddler stage happily and comfortably!

I have a cotton one that is comfy but my linen sling has no competition when it comes to my favorite. I got mine at Porter Baby Slings (http://porterbaby.bigcartel.com/).

Big fan of the basics! Good old fashioned Gerber onesies, Johnson and Johnson wash cloths, and aquaphor! Just had baby #2 our selves, so I’ll throw in a sling as well.

    Best wishes for your family!

Yes, same here! We don’t really use too many “extras”. It’s nice to keep things simple, isn’t it? Babies are just so precious and (usually) easy to soothe. Thank you for your sweet comment :)

You look great! I’m contemplating whether or not we want to be surprised with the next one. I don’t know if I have the patience.

I want to get more cloth diapers.

My favorite thing was the Woombie, although I might try the Love To Dream swaddle this time, since it lets baby keep their hands up…

When I was pregnant the first time I had a gut feeling that it was a boy & we could only settle on a boy’s name then we found out at 20weeks it was a sweet little boy on the way. The second time around I had a feeling it was a girl (and my husband wouldn’t let me talk about it or it would “jinx” it) we settled on a girl’s name right away and my gut was proven right a second time around at the 18week appoint – because we begged the dr to go ahead and tell us haha.

That bump is adorable! I think my favorite baby item is our stroller, the city mini jogger. I use it all the time and love how easy it is to use and fold up. It is one of those items that I say how much I love it every time I pull it out.

I could only think of girl names when I had my daughter.

Do you know if they make a double stroller? I’m looking for one where the sits are in a single row instead of side-by-side.

How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤
