I’m excited to announce a second super exciting resource we are launching for handmade shop owners, and it starts right here on Gussy Sews! {Click here to see the first resource, launched just last week.}

NOW AVAILABLE: Gussy Sews Mentorship Program

We consistently receive emails asking for guidance on a wide variety of blogging + indie biz-related topics: balancing family schedules, indie biz — to start or not to start?, customer service dilemmas, staying on track, developing a vision, creating a business from nothing, wholesale vs. retail, email newsletter/supplier/web hosting questions — really, the list could go on. These are such exciting questions and I love learning about other people’s situations and experiences. There was a time when it made perfect sense to shoot a few ideas + tips back via email but one day it hit me that this type of reply is only helping one person at a time. And based on the emails we get, we know many people could benefit from a similar response because they’re asking similar questions, too.

And while we have a fabulous Advice Column on the blog, the focus for the Mentorship Program is for those wanting a lot more information.

My vision with this program is to provide 1-on-1 feedback via Skype in 30- or 60-minute sessions. One of my passions is encouraging others to do what they love. I’ve been blogging since July 2008 and have been an Indie Biz owner since May 2010. I’m self-taught in many areas including sewing, Indie Biz, blogging + social media growth. It can be a constant challenge to turn your dreams into a reality, so let’s do this right!

Depending on the length of your session, we’ll be discussing short-term to long-term goals, elaborating on your ideas and turning them into an action plan that can later be turned into measurable successes.

If you think your blog or indie biz could benefit from this {yeow!}, click here. Rates + booking dates can be found in that link as well.

This is such an exciting direction and one of the many new changes happening around here.

One of my current mentees, Kasey, shares this about our bi-montly sessions:

I told you this would happen! We talked last night and I was completely overwhelmed by my huge to do list at the end of our mentoring session. I walked away from it, came back this morning, spent 15 minutes writing a plan of action for the day/week just like you recommended and now I’m on fire! I am so motivated to just do it now that I know which way is up! It’s awesome working with you. Before the first time we talked I dreaded the meeting because I felt like you were going to point out all of the things I was doing wrong and I’d feel deflated. It’s been the exact opposite. You share resources, suggest solutions to my roadblocks, and our conversations spark new ideas. I’m so glad I took the plunge. :]

    I’d be so much more inclined to take part…. except the top graphic is completely misspelled. :/

        Maggie, you’re so gracious. And even if you had been the one who misspelled that word, I’m fairly certain most of us would have viewed it as completely irrelevant to your ability to inspire, encourage, and challenge as a mentor. I’m looking forward to our session. :)

    This sounds just wonderful. I must admit I’m painfully shy when it comes to promoting my products and the advice I’ve gotten from your blog (and you) is helping me out sooooo much. Think this couldn’t have come along at a better time for me. :-)

      I’m painfully shy too! It nearly killed me to write my first email to Gussy asking her to be my mentor, but I’ve got to admit it’s been one of my BEST DECISIONS EVER for the blog & business. :)
