yay — it’s friday! today i’m sharing my week in Instagram pics {also linking up with life rearranged}. if you have an iPhone you can follow along with me, my username is GussySews :] since i always have my phone nearby this is the easiest way to capture all the fun moments, quickly. plus i love adding the Nashville filter to my pictures {this is the only one i use!}.

loving my just lovely headband – it’s super lightweight and the band is just big enough that it doens’t slip off my head after wearing it for an hour or so // our new Winter wreath // Minnesota mornings are chilly! ;] // absolutely obsessed with this cowl necklace from craftee mcgee

last week Bauer received some mail, a super cute red doggy shirt with a DEER screen printed on it {zack is in heaven!} by tiny twist creative.

Bauer went to see his friends at the groomer earlier this week and i can’t get over how cute he looks with his new haircut, complete with a Christmas bandana and all —wink! it kills me how soft + cuddly he is.

finishing up some fun projects, loving the new Martha Stewart paints + stencils {mugs and sugar bowls are from Target} // shadows from a gorgeous morning walk // ahhhhh! there’s just sew much fabric // coffee… delicious! all the whip cream helps me forget i ran out of creamer!

* * *

actually, RIGHT NOW we’re in the car driving to michigan to see our families for Christmas + New Years. i’ve got a bag with a few books inside {what women fear + entreleadership} plus 4 skeins of yarn and a little zipped pouch with my notions inside {various crochet hooks + scissors}. i can’t wait to crochet for hours and hours and hours while we travel 400+ miles… what a dream! i taught myself last Friday using this YouTube video, hah!

it’s so crazy to think we’ll be back home in 2012… I LOVE IT!

happy weekending and wishing you a Merry Christmas :]

PS. i found the most awesomest fabrics for our shop re-launch, i can’t wait to show you on january 23rd! xoxoxoxo

Your blog is the best. So much fun! Could you tell me what kind of dog you have? I saw one
at the pound that is similar and wondered if I should grab it up. I can’t have a dog that goes
running out the door every time it is opened. How does your pup behave? What a neat dog!

      hi Rita!

Bauer is an Australian Cattle Dot + Terrier mix! he’s super playful and does pretty well at listening. we crate trained him from the beginning, so that means he goes in his crate to eat, sleep or “just because” — which also translates to he is pretty well-behaved… he knows we are in charge ;D

he’s about 25 lbs. and won’t get any bigger. if you see a pup of that mix you should definitely adopt one! xoxo

Love the wreath up on top. Yellow is so underused. Hope you are enjoying the car ride. I love long car rides too, get lots of reading done. The one time I can talk to my hubby without either of us needing to work and tie my kids down :)

Awe, so glad Bauer’s vest fit… his haircut is adorable. I have a slight obsession with cowls right now too. I made sure to *steal* and win one at a white elephant we went to last week (actually made the hubby steal it) & then I have another one on my knitting needles. So comfy and cute, whats not to love, right?!

I’m feeling like a tired lady. But sunshine & fresh air are good companions to keep around.

How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤

We had gotten a bit lazy with our rhythms: screens We had gotten a bit lazy with our rhythms: screens in the morning (HGTV), playtime before lessons, and not enough quiet time after lunch. This made for a really, ummm, unenjoyable learning experience.

But today! Today we reset the rhythm, and we have had a much happier home & time learning together. 👏🏻

It’s another cold, winter day. ❄️Today I hop It’s another cold, winter day. ❄️Today I hope to bundle up for another family nature walk, knowing the fresh air sweeps out any & all frustration, inviting inspiration inside. ✨That’s something we all need more of.
