When Gussy asked me to list 5 of my favorite things to do in the summer, I was stumped. I didn’t have any trouble coming up with a list – it was narrowing it down to only five that was the problem. When you’re a Minnesota girl like me, you tend to savor every moment of those warm weather months. What’s NOT to love about it?! After careful deliberation, I came up with my faves. Here they are, in no particular order…

1. exploring the many lakes and ponds that are within minutes of my house

2. taking long walks with my family

3. sipping something yummy on my screened-in porch

4. anything involving swimsuits and water on a hot, sunny day

5. heading out to the local farmer’s market on a Saturday morning

ABOUT CATE:
Being a lover of all things fashion, a creator of jewelry, and having a penchant for writing, it was inevitable that I would one day start a blog. I love making jewelry, but my real passion lies in helping women to find their own style amidst all the trends out there, as well as seeing the handmade community grow. Gussy has been an inspiration in bringing together many in this community to form a sort of online family, and I’m such a fan of hers because of it. My dream is to someday open my own boutique featuring handmade accessories, but right now I’m having fun being a stay-at-home mom to my soon-to-be first grader, and very active twin toddlers, as well as being a wife to a handsome husband. Writing Wild Ruffle has been a great way to find a balance between all my loves.

There are some beyoooootiful photos in this post. I especially love the photo of your children on that planked pathway. It’s such a deep metaphor.. it reminds of that phrase “Your children are not your own…” You create the safe path for them, the guard rails, but then you have to set them free to be who they are…. Just lovely!

Oh, thank you, thank you! You got me all teary eyed this morning:) It’s so true about setting them free – that’s the goal, right? We raise them up to release them into the world.
