Last Monday Mr. Bauer had himself an appointment at the groomer. And — turns out he loved it! I think it was all the attention that made him feel like he was at home *wink*. I know I’m biased, but how darling does he look? I can hardly stand it. When I picked him up and saw he was wearing a red bandanna I about died. It was too much. We had one “rule” when I dropped him off ~ do not shave him. I think they did a handsome job :] OH HIS EARS. I have kissed them a thousand times since last Monday. Bauer is the best pup ever. So spirited and brave. My hero ♥.

More pictures from this day coming soon — stay tuned!

Are you sure this is the same dog? He looked way bigger before! Very nice cut tho :) We have to shave our lab/newfoundland mix in the summer because it gets way too hot for him. He is a 100lb fattie and looks so bad shaved, but we love him anyway and try not to tease him too much :) He is so pretty with fur… it pains me to do it to him, but he acts so happy without the big heavy winter coat so I guess I can deal with the weird looking dog for a few months haha.

i know, right?! they cut about 2″ of hair off of him, i think tha’s what makes him look so much smaller. he looks more like a puppy now (11 months old), more like he did when we first adopted him. AHHH. precious Bauer. zack and i just talked last night about how we may have to keep his hair short like this in the summer. he gets so hot here, and let’s just admit it ~ Bauer can get real hairy. hah!

He looks so handsome! A friend of mine recently shaved her dog for the summer, and now he looks like a lion. It’s pretty funny, but I think my husband would kill me if I even touched the hair on our dogs. They don’t have long fur, just thick, but still. ;)

I’m not an expert, but we have a neighbor who recently got a similar dog and was thoroughly disgusted with the job the groomer did (she found out she’d asked for the wrong kind of cut). I couldn’t really tell at the time, but seeing your photos I understand better now. That is to say, I can tell your dog had a more flattering cut.

How stinkin’ cute is he? I understand you smooching him! We have a Jack Russell/Beagle mix and a Hound/Airedale mix. Those so-called mutts are the best! BTW, I am so glad you told them not to shave him. Most dogs, but especially Nordic breeds, must not be shaved. It’s their built-in air conditioner! Just found that out recently from a friend who rescues wolfdogs. My boys are wanting to adopt a Husky or Shepherd mix from her (the low-content dogs).

How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤
