Little snippets.

Friends, let’s catch up on the last week. Recently I shared how slow my writing has been, and just like I knew you would, you left me with much encouragement. I loved hearing from so many of you :) What I’m constantly reminding myself is this is a season for me where sometimes I have full, complete thoughts to offer, and other times I only have little snippets. So while I’m finishing up a post for Monday on joy and beauty through social media, which has many (many!) complete thoughts, today’s post is going to be composed of little snippets. So with that, I’m going to type out a few thoughts…

It’s common for Zack’s work schedule to ebb and flow between totally normal and Ultimate Crazy. I’ll give you one guess which side of the pendulum we’re on ;) Hint: it starts with a C. Normally, Bauer and I take a long morning walk while the rest of our crew relaxes at home, but the last few mornings we’ve all gone out together, and my cup has been filled to the brim. Zack is so good at listening, and for two days in a row now I’ve had really strong flashbacks to when it was just he and I living in Minneapolis. Back then we were deep in the dreaming & planning phase of life. It’s been fun to talk about where we’ve come since then, over three years ago. There is some sort of cleansing magic that happens when you can dream with your best creative partner…

Just one more day until my parents arrive from Michigan to celebrate Natalie’s first birthday with us! Cue the confetti! Cue all the mama emotions! Happy (almost) birthday to our little pumpkin baby!

*

Every morning we ask Maxwell how he slept, and normally he tells us, GREAT! But the other day he said, I slept two for one! (Uhhh, ummm…?)

My new favorite salad concoction: The Kitchen Sink salad. To make, gather all of your leftover salad yummies, everything but the kitchen sink, including (but not limited to): celery, raisins, walnuts, crumbled cheese, salami, croutons, diced apples, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, and cherry tomatoes. Toss with a large heap of lettuce and drizzle balsamic vinaigrette over top. Thanks to my dear friend Sarah for the idea!

When your day feels like it’s spiraling out of control, ask yourself these two things: am I getting enough rest, and am I filling my body with healthy foods?

*

A question to ask yourself when you feel like your day/life/career is spiraling out of control: what is my purpose? This thought-provoking post is focused around blogging content, but you can easily modify it for your day/life/career.

It never fails, the first trimester of every pregnancy leaves me with zero interest in drinking coffee. BUT ALAS, my aversion has fled my body and I’m happily consuming decaf once again. Hooray! My morning routine is back to normal! Zack is thrilled.

*

Today is week 15 of my pregnancy with baby #3! Like I mentioned, coffee is back on my list of “yes, please”, but also joining my list this week is my evening heartburn. It’s nothing that a little Gilmore Girls can’t fix, so I’m not complaining ;) I’ve also become an excellent afternoon napper and am daily refining my “dancing with a kiddo on my hip” skill post-naptime. We are having lots of fun around here! And I think baby #3 is enjoying it, too!

*

I casually mentioned yesterday “all the piles I have around the apartment,” and before I could even finish telling Zack, “I know it looks a little messy” he cut me off and declared they are PILES with a PURPOSE! (Adding that to my list of reasons why I married Zack. Also, mom! You have to adapt this new phrase!)

Wishing you a very relaxing and inspiring weekend! See you back here Monday? ♥

I love that Max slept “two for one.” Whatever it means, it is hilarious. I’ve been making a “kitchen sink” type of salad lately too, but I love your clever name for it! In fact, I looked down a few times this week and realized I had hardly any lettuce but tons of other healthy, yummy things!

I’m with you on the pregnancy/no coffee thing! That’s so weird! When I’m pregnant, for the first trimester I lose ALL interest in coffee.. doesn’t taste good! It smells oh-so-good, but when I take a sip… Yuck! :-) Thanks for the snippets… they’re wonderful and inspiring!

Piles with a purpose… love it! I’ll have to tell Hubs… although, he may remind me that my purpose is to put said piles away… :-D

…that’s not your only purpose though ;D

Love these snippets Maggie! I’m catching up reading around here… you’re always so encouraging and so real.

And PS I am DEFINITELY going to adopt that ‘piles with a purpose’ phase. It might become an official title around here! Please thank Zack for coining that one! :)
