My favorite sewing notions, a giveaway

This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to comment #67, Kara. Check your inbox for an email from us! Thank you to all who entered. xoxo

For a little bit now I’ve been gathering a few of my favorite sewing notions in anticipation of creating a giveaway bundle. I know what you’re thinking — yes, sewing notions really are that exciting to me :) Over the summer T-fal contacted me about one of their products, the Ultraglide iron. It arrived at our apartment at a perfect time as my current iron needing to be replaced. Don’t laugh at me when I tell you this: I really do enjoy ironing. It’s one of those repetitive, relaxing tasks and the fact that I can see the wrinkles in the fabric disappear before my eyes? Well, let’s just say it settles my need for instantaneous results.

I’ve gathered seven of my favorite notions for a giveaway, and since nearly my entire home state (hello, Michigan) is currently experiencing dreadful negative degree windchills I thought it would be fun to host a giveaway? I mean, what else is there to do besides sew and craft when you’re stuck inside from too much snow? ;)

Let’s talk some more about this iron. I’ve been using it for a few months now and it’s already surpassed all of my ironing daydreams — including being able to use tap water for steaming and it’s super smooth ceramic soleplate. It’s also nonstick! Who knew I could go on & on about an iron like this? But really, it’s a great iron. Even Target knows it and carries it.

Also included in the giveaway:  1.) one ironing board cover c/o Sew Caroline (fits a standard board), 2.) three yards of strawberry pink ball fringe, 3.) three spools of Dual Duty Coats & Clark cotton thread c/o Coats & Clark, 4.) two yards of 100% cotton fabric (1 yard of each design), 5.) six buttons (2 of each design shown), 6.) twenty YKK zippers (various sizes of vanilla, pink & strawberry colors) and lastly a T-fal Ultraglide iron c/o T-fal (not shown in above photo).

Caroline of Sew Caroline made me a custom ironing board cover in a fun pink/red pattern. I seriously love it! My ironing board is extra wide (I told you I love to iron) but that didn’t stop her — this girl can sew! Caroline also has sewing tutorials on her blog, you must pay her a visit and look at all the beautiful clothes she’s sewn for herself. Go on ;) click over!

PS. Special thanks to T-fal for providing the iron, Coats & Clark for providing the cotton thread, and Sew Caroline for providing the ironing board cover.

I’ve been itching to sew again since having my sweet girl last month. I really need to make the curtains in her room so we can nurse in the lovely chair her great grandma bought us, instead of always on the sofa or on my bed. After that, I need to sew a boppy cover with the pretty Leah Duncan fabric I bought for it!!

I started sewing with my tween daughter (who will be a teen this weekend) last year as a way for us to spend time together talking and sharing. We have enjoyed making aprons and tote bags and have zipper pouches and baskets on our list this year. I love that she is learning this skill (she is quite good) and it gives us quiet time together. She is also learning to iron now. This give away would be the perfect gift for us to help us with our sewing goals for this year! And her bday is Saturday – so perfect!! Thanks Maggie! And I adore Caroline too! Susan

I grew up with handmade clothes made lovingly by my mom. She is boundlessly talented! A couple of decades later, my mom is battling a terminal disease and we are focusing on quality time. For me, that means sitting with my mom, exploring through a cabinet of fabric scraps from all the wonderful pieces she made me, and turning these into a mama-baby quilt (maybe a pillow too – can imagine thar ball fringe in it!). Like many treasured aspects of my mom, a handmade shared project will keep a part of her with me always.

I want to be magical and princess-y, but also need to be able to run. Instead of dressing like a typical cartoon princess, it’s important to me that I represent “who I am,” so I’ll be putting together a princess costume to represent my hometown – Chicago!

I have been waiting to get started on two very special quilts for my brother and I made from our Dads favorite shirts. I finally feel ready enough to do it and I just got my grandmothers sewing machine tuned up and ready to sew this very special piece and wouldn’t you know it my iron decided to call it quits. Oh isn’t that just the way of it. ;) Thank you for a chance to win this great giveaway.

Where do I start?! I have so many projects waiting in my craft cupboard! I think the one that is most exciting are the superhero caps & masks I’m going to make for my 4 littles. I’ve had the fabric for just over 1 year now. And last January/February I started on one of them – cut it out, but that’s where it’s been left. I know they would love them & spend many amazing hours pretending. Though, I also have some more pressing projects – burp cloths & cloth wipes for a friend. Too many projects, too little time!

NEED to sew a (super simple) stop sign throw pillow! My 3 year old got a new “big boy bed” and picked out his own bedding – construction themed (not surprised!) and the pic online of the whole set / line had a stop sign pillow…. but that wasn’t included in his bed-in-a-bag….. so I definitely need to sew him one! :)

My best friend is expecting a baby girl so I have a lot of things I want to make for her. I especially want to make one of the shopping cart covers that you put in the seat area to keep baby from sucking/chewing/touching the dirty cart. Ick. I wish they would have been around when my kids were cart size.

I am wanting to make a zippered pleated pouch. I am new to sewing, so I am setting up projects to work on skills.

I have lots of projects on my sewing list, but the most important ones are two quilts for my boys so they can snuggle up with and remember momma made them something!!

Our first grand child (gdaughter =} ) just turned one year old at Christmas and started walking! I’ve been doing some cute baby items for her but am excited to be making her dresses and other cute clothes now that she’s walking. Would love to win your giveaway, not to mention I’m using my MILs iron from the Ice Age (remember the really heavy ones with the cloth chord ?!) Sad but true =/

I’m expecting a little girl in April. I will be making her bedding and room decor in these colours. I was also going to try making a diaper bag, these zippers would come in handy. :)
