Day 8// Let’s talk about quotes that inspire and your special place to hang such things. As women who create it’s important we have words that inspire us — quotes that inspire us — surrounding us. Encouragement. Persistence. Beauty. Strength. Those four words are what fill my inspiration board. I even have a special board with Pinterest to capture some of my favorite quotes. Whenever I’m in a funk I like to reflect on something found there. Taking just a half hour does so much for me, it’s amazing!

Homework// If you haven’t yet, create a special place near your workspace for you to hang inspiring things. If you already have something set up, update it!

What inspires you? Share with us a link to your favorite inspiring quote, landscape, item…

I know so many inspirational sayings that speak to me and I love the ones you posted today, thanks. Hubby gave me another one the other day…………… An idea without a plan is just a wish. ……….I write the sayings down and reread them but I didn’t think of making a specific place in my craft room to display them but I will today.

I have this one sitting on the shelf right above my machine: http://sarahjanestudios.com/blog/2011/07/live-your-life-on-purpose-free-pdf/ (Psst–it’s a free printable by the fabulous Sarah Jane!)

@Donna, You’re welcome! Also, I wanted to mention that it’s easy to fit it in an 8×10 frame (landscape orientation) by cutting out some of the green at the top.

Hi Gussy and everyone else! I’m commenting on this post, although my question is more of the blogging type. Now I don’t have a shop yet, but I am developing my brand+product and your advice is really helpful, so thank you SO MUCH. Now, my question: Is it better to name your blog after your product (so that they have the same name – like in your case “gussy sews” and “gussy sews blog”) or can you have two different names? My business is products for pets (toys, beds and such), but my blog would be more personal – with photos of my pets and the things that I do… So even if my business is pet oriented, is it okay for my blog to have different things on it or will that spoil the look of my business? Or should I just create 2 different blogs? One for my business and one for me?

    Thank you so much.
    xo

@Alice, My first question is about the content you’ll share on your blog. Will it be business related at all? Will it be totally a personal blog? Sometimes that can help decide what to do. If you are going to incorporate some posts that relate to your business I say go for a single blog. That way it’ll be easy for readers to get to know you AND your brand. As for the blog name, keeping it similar to your shop name will make it easier for readers to find you {that is, if you’re going to do just one blog}. xoxo

        @Gussy Sews,

Thanks! That’s a good question. I actually want to start blogging before I open my shop, make my website, finish the products. But once I have all that I would want to put it on the blog as well. The only thing I haven’t thought about yet is how exactly you share your business on your blog. How do I do that? Do I just make posts with products or with photos of happy tail waging users… I have to figure all that out. If you have any more advice in this direction, I’d be happy to hear it.

I come to your blog regularly and love it. It’s funny that I don’t remember how I found out about you or your products, but I’m happy I did. :)

        Have a nice day.

You’re so right about how important it is to have something inspirational in the work space! I just cleaned off my desk today and am now totally inspired to update my inspiration board. I have a set of shelves above the inspiration board and just setup one of them as an inspiration “shelf.” It has a print on it that reads “live what you love”- http://www.etsy.com/listing/77162676/live-what-you-love-letterpress-print-in – so I went off that theme and put a glass pitcher with all my knitting needles in it, a wooden rabbit that my husband bought me when we were dating, my dslr, and my son’s hospital bracelet from when we brought him home. Now it inspires me to work hard and keep the things I love in the forefront to fuel my passion!

These are super awesome quotes, thanks for sharing! My favorite is the Roald Dahl – I try to keep things sunny whenever possible!

It reminds me of my old blog post here about hot air balloons and rocks:

I’ve wanted to make an inspiration board for the longest time, but I just don’t know where I’d put it. My “office” is in between the living room and dining room of our apartment, and there’s a window above my desk, so I can’t hang something there. Well, I’m off to Pinterest to find home office inspiration :)

Amazing blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
A theme like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog shine.

Please let me know where you got your theme. Cheers

Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending
the time to discuss this topic here on your site.
