{Hello from Los Angeles, California!}

So… we’ve had an insanely busy last few weeks, which included getting our family ready for our cross-country move from Minnesota to California. Wrapping up jobs, hosting a giant garage sale {and the Lord blessed us greater than we could have imagined!!!}, moving all product to Cambria’s home so there are no delays shipping product while we’re in transition. Then we emptied our entire house {and shipped many boxes to sweet Jessica}, and got on the road.

And then we drove for 4.5 days.

And now my bum is tired of sitting in a seat.

Our first night, Monday, we finished packing pretty late so we only made it to Des Moine, IA. But we slept for about 8 hours and it was glorious. I’m not sure of the last time I slept that long… and I’m pretty sure Bauer fell asleep first, which is saying a lot. All of us were/are {yep, both tenses are correct} exhausted. Then on Tuesday we drove to North Platte, NE and stopped for the night. On Wednesday we drove to Moab, UT and stayed the night in the cutest motel that had polka dots in the bathroom and a cute duvet cover on the bed. It was basically decorated just for me —wink! On Thursday we visited the Grand Canyon, which was even more gorgeous + breathtaking than I imagined. Oh my word, it was amazing! And would you believe a lot of the edges of the canyon didn’t have any type of railing? And the bike trails, campgrounds, natural ruins… it was all just breathtaking. That night we stayed in Kingman, AZ and on Friday we arrived in Los Angeles, YEOW!

It has been a really great, tiring, exciting, busy week, and we’re still looking for an apartment or house to rent in the Santa Monica/Culver City area. There are a lot out there to choose from, and it’s been a little slow + painful. Getting the right square footage, layout, price, proximity to Zack’s work and neighborhood “stuff” has been tricky. If you saw us you’d totally snort out loud — one on the MacBook the other on BOTH iPhones, searching + calling on rentals. We are a good team :) Also, we’d love your prayers on finding an apartment or house to rent… Zack starts work Tuesday morning (TODAY!!) and let’s be honest, I’m ready to be settled :)

I keep telling Zack how California smells like sunscreen + fresh air. He doesn’t smell the sunscreen, says it’s only cuz I’m pregnant that I smell that. But I say he’s wrong ;) And Bauer agrees with me: California smells like Coppertone.

Curious how Bauer did? He slept nearly the entire road trip out here and continues to sleep a lot. So much to see, smell, do, and of course alllll the fresh air. He has been such a good pup for us :) And he already loves the little lizards that dart in + out of the bushes, ha ha!

I have my 14 week OB appointment today, too, woo hooooo! Baby should be about 3.5 inches long now, about the size of a lemon, is able to to squint, suck his/her thumb, and has a coat of precious baby hair all over the body.

So that’s all for now.

We’re waving to you from Los Angeles, California… xoxo

    My best friend lives in Santa Monica….I think she emailed you recently. Anyhow, she’s connected with a great church (Hollywood Church) and has tons of solid friends. I know she would love to meet up with you or help out in anyway!

    We live in Phoenix, but my husband and I spent the weekend in LA visiting my SIL. I knew you’d probably made it there by then, so I tried to keep an eye out for you, in a city of 12,872,808, Haha! We spent Sunday afternoon in Santa Monica. It’s a beautiful area! I’m so excited for you! I saw loads of apartments for rent, but I’m sure by the beach is expensive, and some of areas were kinda sketchy. I hope you find the perfect place very soon! And I agree with you on the smell…California smells like sunscreen, fresh air, and sea water to me :)

    Thought I’d check and see if you made it! Sounds like everything is going really well. Santa Monica is tricky for housing but I know God will lead you to a great home. My tip is check the parking situation and check the neighborhood in the day time and at night. Welcome to L.A.!

    […] This little mister, he’s traveled many faraway places with us, but the farthest he’s traveled with us is to California. When we adopted Bauer about 2.5 years ago {he was just 12 weeks old, awwww} I couldn’t have imagined him being as perfect as he is. Of course every cute pup has a little bit of mischievous inside of him. Don’t let his sweet little face fool you ;) But Bauer is perfect — he really truly has been my pal, most especially since we moved to California at 14 weeks pregnant. […]
