Can I share something with you? I’M SO GLAD IT’S FRIDAY, yippeeeee! I’m not sure what happened this week but I’m exhausted! Currently yawning as I type this. So many emotions + thoughts have run through my mind this week. I’m loving what’s happening with @SheReadsTruth and feel like I’m being nudged in a bit of a new direction. I can’t wait to see what comes of this :)

Once again Nester blogged something that shot straight to my heart. She’s the best blog mentor I could ever imagine having. I hope to journal some more of what her post made me think about this morning… You probably don’t know how I pulled that precious of a thought from her post on BH+G but I did :) Tee hehe.

So some photos of my week! Everyone loves to be nosy and peek at these types of things, right? Duh duh duh.

Yesterday I took off to my favorite fabric store + stocked up on materials. This store is insane ~ it’s a 30,000 square foot warehouse filled wall-to-wall with fabric, thread, felt, fleece, lace, tassels, zippers. Oh my word, here’s just one wall, of the thirty or so walls. Having weekly shop updates is a great excuse to drive over here a few times a month! ::

And Mr. Bauer! He’s so good, seriously one of my favorite memories of living in Minneapolis. We got him about 1 year after we moved here ~ he was just 12 weeks old when we adopted him, and he’s my very best daytime companion. Yesterday I packaged orders and Alyssa {our cousin} was nearby when I stuck this sticker on his head… and then we giggled. Poor Bauer ;D ::

Earlier this week my Heart Friends and I “celebrated” our friendship by wearing our skull + hair bow matching shirts on the same day— ha! Ellen, Emily, Hayley, Nester, Tracey, Caroline + me. We share in the good/bad/exciting/scary/funny, together. Who cares about the miles between our homes, we’re Heart Friends! PS. Caroline made our shirts! ::

My boys — Zack + Bauer. When they see me walk in the door from errands or coffee with a friend they both get excited, AND THAT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD! :D Ahhhh! ::

Last week I had a little photoshoot in the studio for this week’s shop update. In case you missed it, see what’s new here! Sneak peek photos on Instagram {I’m @gussysews} are fun, dontcha think? {snicker} I think so! ::

OH WHAT IS THIS? {see last comment above} ::

We’ve been eating a lot of Cobb salads lately. I know Cobb salad means something specific, but around here we like to make up our own recipes, tee hehe! Here’s what I’ve been adding to our lettuce: hard boiled egg, bacon, avocado, feta or bleu cheese, grilled chicken, almond slices, strawberries, sugar snap peas, cucumber + homemade ranch dressing. DELICIOUS! Do you like to eat salad for dinner? We do, but only if they’re yummy! ;) I normally make Zack’s salad twice as large as mine. And with an extra egg — husband needs his protein to stay full, otherwise he’ll be back in the kitchen 15 minutes later. Here’s our ombre lettuce ::

Sunshiny days are my favorite. Wishing + hoping this weekend is filled with them…

What are your favorite memories from this past week? What is your favorite daily moment with your family? For me, I love mornings, but only when I get enough sleep at night. Bauer is extra snuggly and it feels like a mini date when Zack + I sip our morning coffee together on the front porch before he leaves for work. When we are able to spend time together before our workday starts I almost always have a super great wonderful day :)

Favorite memories from this past week: my birthday, my daughter got her braces off, total immersion in quilt making…
Favorite daily moment with my family: dinnertime when we are all together sharing details about our days.
Looking forward to the last day of school today so I can be with my kids all summer.

Love this post! My favorite memories of this week would be thrift shopping with a friend on Monday, enjoying breakfast for dinner with my hubby the night it was raining and going on an amazing feeling run this morning. And starting up with @SheReadsTruth – feeling so good since staring that, even if I’m a few days behind the rest of you! It’s so good for me and so good for my soul!

Can you pass along your recipe for homemade ranch dressing? We’re always looking for homemade alternatives – and making it at home would justify eating ranch dressing for me! :)

Tee hehe, sure! It’s a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing + 1 cup mayo + 1 cup buttermilk (you can make buttermilk at home by adding 1 Tbsp of lemon juice to 1 cup of milk, let the milk sit for 5 minutes, then voila!). xoxo

I’ve totally been to the fabric warehouse! My best friends lives in Minneapolis and when I visited her last summer we took a little trip there- LOVED it. A bit overwhelming being a ‘first timer’ there, but I am counting down the days till my next visit (mostly to see my friend, but the fabric store is a major bonus!!) :)

I’m feeling like a tired lady. But sunshine & fresh air are good companions to keep around.

How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤

But today! Today we reset the rhythm, and we have had a much happier home & time learning together. 👏🏻
