confession:
sometimes it can be really hard to enjoy my weekend when endless lists + ideas fill my head. {or when the “i must do something fun, i must do something fun!!!” monster comes knocking. you know the feeling, right?!} working from home and then being home on the weekends, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed before friday even hits. i just want to get out of the house {!!!} and do something different. but this weekend was different… it’s been one of my main priorities this year to finish work early during the week and not have any to do on the weekends. unless i’m planning a re-launch ;] so this past weekend, with only a few house chores to do, i was able to relax. i reminded myself whatever plans this weekend brings, work/fun/otherwise, they’d be perfect plans.

and ya know what else? when sunday night came i felt very happy. perfection! :]

* * *

starting out on friday, molly and i went on a little field trip to target downtown. we rode the bus and i taught her the wonders of wearing oversized sunglasses. we were a bundled duo, molly + maggie! it was the cutest adventure downtown if i’m allowed to be honest. later that night zack + i tried to make a quick run to CVS but found ourselves downtown rescuing co-workers who were left their keys on their desk after stepping out for a work event across the street. OOPS! we came to their rescue though and all was well in the end ♥.

^ molly + maggie // downtown minneapolis at night

then on saturday, the mister and i ran a few errands together. we felt like we were on a little goose chase though, trying to find a post office that could sell us stamps {we had 3 strikes before finding success}! then we stopped at the hardware store… that gives me a few wifey points, right?! and then we stopped for a coke. such a perfect way to end our afternoon of goose chasing. i mean errand-running! —wink!

we watched a movie, visited the downtown library, came up with a super exciting handmade idea, molly + i baked valentine’s day cupcakes — YUM! and then ended the evening with an episode of downton abbey… i just love that show!!!

^ at the hardware store // watching an afternoon movie

and then yesterday… zack, bauer + i went on a long afternoon walk. the sun was out and the sky was blue ~ it was so gorgeous. this city is pretty much picturesque. on almost every block there’s a park and nearly every park has a playground, wading pool + baseball diamond that’s converted to a skating rink in the winter months. so sweet!

^ traditional minnesota fashion {for me} // valentine’s day cupcakes for breakfast

* * *

if you could choose your breakfast in the morning, what would you have to eat?

yesterday i had a cupcake with my mustache mug, hah {don’t judge}! and i don’t regret it at all. in fact, it was the perfect start to another perfect weekend morning ;D

XOXO

    A cupcake for breakfast on the weekend is absolutely OKAY! If I could choose my breakfast I would have slice of homemade pound cake from the ladies bake sale at church yesterday with a smear of nutella on it. (OR maybe that IS what I am having! :))

    If I could have anything I wanted I would buy a loaf of french bread, slice it thick… Mix eggs, milk, orange juice, cinnamon, vanilla flavoring till well blended. Spray a pan with nonstick spray, lay the bread flat in pan and pour egg mixture over it, flip and let it all soak in overnight in the fridge. Next morning turn over to 375 and bake till huge puffy and brown, serve with powdered sugar, fruit and sugar free syrup… Baked French Toast,,,, ahhhh my all time favorite food!

    If I could have anything for breakfast (without feeling guilty) I’d have a giant cinnabon oozing with warm icing and a big mug of coffee with french vanilla creamer. And maybe an OJ too… And if I wasn’t feeling sweets I’d have a pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwhich [if you don’t know what pork roll is I’m very very sorry].

    I love breakfast.

        Pork roll is a particular breakfast meat from the Philly – NJ area. People in North Jersey tend to call it Talor Ham (a brand name – the box still clearly says “pork roll” on it!). It’s got a texture that is somewhere between canadian bacon and spam (it’s good I promise) and the best flavor among pork breakfast products. Second only to…bacon. Although, pork roll is much better on a sandwhich then bacon.

    When Im being good I take a hardboiled egg and slice it up and lay them out on some lightly buttered toast and sprinkle with a tad of salt. If I’m being not so good, MUFFINS, with way too much butter. Oh and both of these are accompanied by way too much coffee ;)

    I am not even a breakfast person but have been eating lately. The big, big myth in my mind is that bran cereal is disgusting. Well, guess what?!! It’s not!

    My new favorite breakfast is bran cereal + generous application of honey + blueberries + milk. Perfection!!

    I just love how you are relaxing. I’ve only been blogging since last summer so I’m learning to balance work, blog, hubby, and 4 kids but I agree that I need some of my weekend life back. It’s all just a balancing/juggling act, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m feeling like a tired lady. But sunshine & fresh air are good companions to keep around.

How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤
