{Inspiration Workshop! — Dining Room}

The more I grow up and really accept that I can decorate our home exactly the way I/we want to, the more fun it is to find new ways to decorate. Of course much of my “I can do it”-ness comes from Nester and her famous motto, It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. {Amen.} Even though we’re in a rental there are some really great perks to the house we are currently in. Yes, it’s has more dark elements than I’d like {wood trim/floors, light fixtures} but it’s gorgeous and I can appreciate the beauty it has.

Some home elements that really have my attention, though, are wide windows and more light/lighter-colored walls, like what you see here…

As I grow up I’m learning that super fun colors ~ incorporated through accents like chairs, lamps, candles, book bindings ~ make my eyes light up. Our dining room may not have the light walls I dream of but it does have a GORGEOUS built-in-the-1900’s wall buffet and stained glass window accent — yeow!. We’ve added in yellow chairs around the table and a trio of plush pumpkins in fuchsia, green and plum. In it’s own uniqueness it’s a beautiful room.

Other things I’m attracted to in a home: pops of color, a beautifully/messy lived-in house, decor that serves as conversation starters ;]

    I especially like the 2nd and 3rd pics that you posted! I love pops of bright color and long, farmhouse tables. I sometimes have a hard time accepting that I can’t have EVERYTHING that I want: I’m very eclectic and like many different styles! I like to keep the big pieces neutral so that I can change up accessories on a whim to satisfy whatever mood I’m in this week/month.

    I like that although you prefer “more light/lighter colored walls” your first photo has dark walls. It goes to show that bright color and natural light can do wonders for a room and that even though walls are painted a dark color, it doesn’t mean the room has to be ‘dark’… if that makes sense. I totally love the woven Seagrass chairs in that last picture, too!!
