{Eclectic Whatnot by Gussy Sews ~ she’s passing me the torch}

GOOD MORNING! As promised via a status update on Facebook yesterday ~ I have exciting news!! I’ll just blurt it out since I know that’s really what you’re interested in —wink!

*introducing ECLECTIC WHATNOT by GUSSY SEWS* — that’s right, Ruthanne of Eclectic Whatnot has passed the camera strap slipcover torch over to me. And ya know what? I’m E X C I T E D! {and feeling so honored!}

Ruthanne and I have been pals for… months now? Nearly a year now? Well, the point is we’ve been online pals for quite some time, but earlier this year we met face-to-face at Blissdom. I thought I loved Ruthanne even though we had only chatted on the phone, but meeting her in real life made me LUV her! She’s a great friend to bounce ideas off of, a great friend to call when I need advice. Sometimes I like to call her and share awkward things with her. Oh, you didn’t want to know that? :}

Earlier this summer I knew Ruthanne was going to take a few months off from her camera strap shop, but I also knew she said she was going to open it back up once summer was over… And it’s nearing summer and her shop isn’t open…? So I asked her ~ When are you going to re-open, Ruthanne? People are asking… ;]

Her reply? She hemmed. She hawed. I encouraged her that she COULD re-open and still homeschool and still work on her new photography business and still be an awesome wifey that bakes.

She ::snorted:: at me; I gave her some tips and plan of action.

But Ruthanne just wasn’t sure about this. And the very next day she called me, and before she could say much past, Hi…, I knew something was up.

She shared with me her desire to enjoy more of life ~ her dreams of focusing more on her photography business ~ then she asked me if I would carry the Eclectic Whatnot torch by adding her camera straps to my shop.

As in, would I add a new product to my shop and sew camera strap slipcovers and advertise them and sell them and then ship them off to lovely customers?

UMMM, sure!

I mean — really, how could I NOT carry that torch for her? What a seriously amazing honor this is, what a compliment…

So here they are, come take a look at the Eclectic What not by Gussy Sews camera strap slipcovers.

To me, these camera straps are a mark of friendship.

Ruthanne, you are a dear friend to me… much love to you. And thank you for giving me your baby.

XOXO!

*PS. I read over this post a few times and seriously, Ruthanne, this means gift you’ve given to me ~ it means so much. My ruffly heart is bursting with appreciation. Thank you again :]

    I am so excited! I got my first dslr two weeks ago and the first thing I did was got to Eclectic Whatnot and look for a strap where I had sent friends in the past. Much to my disappointment, it was closed. I have still been holding out for a strap that I really like, and boy am I glad that I did!

      do you have an ugly belt at home that you don’t like to wear? don’t buy a dSLR, they’re expensive — you can use my camera straps as ugly belt cover-uppers ;] hah!

      …right? she really had to twist my arm to say yes!

      except i had total “girl brain” once i did say yes. i kept asking her, are you sure you want me to do this? // you can tell me no // do the photos look ok? (you hate them, don’t you?) // and on & on.

      thank you so much for your sweet comment. THANK YOU, LIBBY ♥

      is it a slipcover? (the ones here are slipcovers.) if it is, take off your camera strap and slide the slipcover over it, then put the camera strap back on. they are a snug fit, warning!

      if your strap from baker estate blog is an actually camera strap (not a slipcover) then you just take off the current strap and put on the new one you won from her.

      am i making any sense? {bites nails} let me know if i’m not

    Thanks for the wonderful rllnetieg of the event. I so wish I could have been there this season. Having babies, and living out of Ottawa can make it difficult to make it in for the start time. Perhaps next year? That story will begin to see the light soon, I hope.
