snapshots from our weekend ~

…I am a FABULOUS list-maker but apparently a terrible go-getter as of late.

There. I wrote it.

BUT ~ I have changed my ways. Today I am working on, oh, 13 different things:

> Finishing up my new office {I moved into Zack’s office over the weekend and he moved, well… we are still figuring that out}

> Bauer. He is absolutely, definitely not listening today, so he’s in time out {again}

> An announcement that is holiday related ;]

> Ordering materials

> Editing product photos – YEOW!

> Beach photos

> Reading this article that Zack sent my way

> Working on another holiday related “thing”

> Our MI summer vacay post {hangs head in shame}

> Advice Page

> Sharing my second Terrarium-building class :]

> Answering your Qs vlogs

> Thank You notes

Oh my. It’s after Noon and already my day is a mess {wink!}. One of the reasons I moved into Zack’s office is because I couldn’t focus anymore. Anything and everything was distracting me, and I’m one of those weirdo’s that needs 4 walls around me + closed door in order to kick out work. Please tell me you are a weirdo, too — ? And please tell me that by writing “my day is a mess” doesn’t make you turn away and run in the other direction. The past 7 days were spent moving so much furniture that I feel like our home looks nothing like it used to, yet at the same time it’s everything we needed to be able to live here and run this ruffly biz, too.

So ~ in an attempt to give myself some more time, I’ve written this confession-filled post. I promise, PROMISE I’ll be back soon with all the updates. And finished blog posts. And photos of all the changes.

Wait just a little bit more for me?

PS. Have you seen my sidebar? There’s a new batch of sponsors in there ~ L O V E L Y!

PPS. The winner of the Marmie Bags $50 shop credit giveaway is #101, Kathleen {secret coded email address: kcushm_ _@juno.com}. Check your email, Kathleen! xoxo

    I’m sooo the same way. My husband can focus no matter what his surroundings – I’m too easily distracted by anything and everything. When I’m on lock-down I can really crank stuff out. Otherwise…

    I work from home, so share your distractibility pain! I think keeping the list do-able helps maintain a feeling of accomplishment rather than disaster!! xx

    When I was in college I often had to make myself go to the library to study for finals. But I had to find one of those tiny little desks where no one else was to be able to concentrate. I hated it, but at least I could focus. You are so not alone and it is good to know that sometimes you are overwhelmed also. It makes me feel a little more normal.

    I actually made a seperate account on my computer for when I have to write long papers for finals. I put parental conrols{that’s right a 21 year old is parental-controlling herself} on it so that I can only access pages like my school’s research page. Otherwise I get too distracted by blogs, emails, and etsy:)

    Writing “my day is a mess” most definitely doesn’t make me run away. Your list is great, other than Bauer not being a good listener (boo!), sounds like fun stuff to look forward to. Plus, I am just plain jealous, because right now you are in Minneapolis, and I am in the Netherlands. And I want to be there. :-) I think this might be my first comment on your blog??? But I love, love, love it. And your ruffles.

    I can relate! I work from home too and take care of my kids. Distraction is like my middle name! Very hard to sit and mark things off my list! Usually the mess from toys distracts me and I want to get up and clean instead of sit down and focus! I feel like I always post about things I am hoping to finish up, or “be back soon”, etc. Most days my list doesn’t get much marked off. I’ve grown to accept it although at times it frustrates the heck out of me! :) I look forward to your posts when you find the time to finish them!

    Yes! Definitely need a confined, designated area. I also need things to be organized and uncluttered or I feel overwhelmed and become unproductive…. unfortunately, we’re in the process of reorganizing and changing spaces in our house (kind of like you are) and things are SUPER cluttered at the moment. But I hope to accomplish a lot this week while my toddler is with Grandma & Grandpa. :)

    Oh.my.word….. distraction runs rampant in this household. Kids are so time consuming!

    I’m queen of list making…queen of ignoring said list too! It’s so easy to dream, and dream BIG; but sometimes it’s so difficult to take the baby steps necessary to start the process. It’s also so easy to have too many projects going at one time. Giving a little bit of myself to a bunch of little tasks is far less efficient, and creatively conducive, than narrowing it down to some top priority projects that I can actually complete!

    Good luck on your check list girl, I have no doubt you will get all of it done in your new office! Can’t wait to see pics of the creative space!
