Perhaps you’ve noticed my shop has been “down” since Thursday evening? Well, I’ve been working my brain to the MAX trying to switch a few things with the layout {aka: HTML coding} AND I DID IT! I’m super excited about this update because it translates to an easier shopping experience for customers. It’s fab! I included 3 images below to show off most of the new changes ~ be on the lookout for the orange boxes on the pics to see the updates! :]

1. SHOP BY COLLLECTION: The homepage now shows off 5 collections for easier shopping ~ tote & other bags, zipped pouches, for the mamas, for the {little} girls, and headbands. If you click on a collection image, for example – zipped pouches, it will take you…

2. SHOP EASIER BY SEEING ALL PRODUCT TYPES: …{continued from above} to that page so you can see ALL the zipped pouches we sell! This works for all of our collections {as shown on the homepage}. Click around & test it out: www.shopgussy.com

3. SHOP ALL PRODUCTS: This is the last section I updated yesterday, and it shows off 2 different ways the customer can shop our site — shop by product type OR shop by collection. Take a look at the two columns and their differences:

Here are the differences —
PRODUCT TYPE is a very specific term: wristlet/clutch, vacay tote + pouch, market tote, diaper/wipe wristlet, medium zipped pouch, etc.
COLLECTION refers to a group of like-items: totes & other bags, zipped pouches, for the mamas {this is especially awesome; make sure you check out this category}. COLLECTIONS will help us for Christmas 2011 — that’s all I can say for now. Yay!

Some other things I did to the site: re-arranged/cleaned up the sidebar, updated the reviews page, updated the contact page.

Each week I receive a few emails about my shop and how it’s been customized. While I do have a friend that helps me with coding questions, or design work like my social media buttons, I do all of the coding and updates/customizations myself. This is something I’ve grown to LOVE and it’s almost like achieving something grand each time. Writing code is something I’ve learned to do with the help of Mr. Google. If you are interested in customizing your blog or shop I really, really encourage you to ask Google and try it yourself. Of course save the previous code before you delete/update it, just in case there are errors. Some times I think I won’t be able to find an answer to my question, but honestly ~ I’ve never NOT found the answer. So just try it!!! :]

I like the changes you have made to your site – I definitely think it will help with customer’s shopping experience! And i totally agree with you about using Google to learn how to do html coding and such. I recently taught myself to make blog buttons by using a couple of different methods I found online. The information is out there (and it’s free!!!) Have a great weekend :)

WOW Lady! I was excited to learn how to make my own bloggy button , but writing code. Shoot. Maybe when the kiddos are back in school. SO fun meeting you on Thursday, I hope I didn’t act too much like a spaz! It’s just I wasn’t expecting to meet someone “famous” at one of my best friends parties. If Molly would have known, she would have prepared me: as in “Hey Sara guess who’s gonna be at my house? Gussy!” To which I would say something like “Shut UP! OMGoodness I LOVE her stuff, I have to make my list for Rob, because I could never decide…” Blogging has been a blessing, I’ve changed blog address a few times. My last blog was Interpret Sass, which I loved it spoke of where I was all sassy and interpreting what was being thrown at me in life, then we lost our house and had to short sell it, that changed me. My faith in God rose like a mountain out of the sea. So I shut it down and started ‘They call me Sara’; because I am less sassy, and I’ve decided my interpreting skills are less then stellar! LOL. Anyways nice to meet you! Please come out to dinner with Molly and I sometime when she comes back so I can act more normal! ;0)

I’ve been writing more, reading more, spending more time outside. Talking to friends faces and smelling their detergent. My heart feels lighter. I’m feeling like a tired lady. But sunshine & fresh air are good companions to keep around.

We came home and I made “the best dinner ever”. Max specifically announced, “it’s so great you’re launching new meals to the world”. LOL— kids! 🤣👏🏻💓
How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤
How do you play in the winter? // We had a really How do you play in the winter? // We had a really great time visiting family in northern Michigan. On my blog I share a few ways we played outside, plus I describe a memorable childhood game ❄️☃️. Did you play it as a kiddo?
We had gotten a bit lazy with our rhythms: screens We had gotten a bit lazy with our rhythms: screens in the morning (HGTV), playtime before lessons, and not enough quiet time after lunch. This made for a really, ummm, unenjoyable learning experience.

But today! Today we reset the rhythm, and we have had a much happier home & time learning together. 👏🏻
