{What I Wore Wednesday – #8}

This post is a little different from the usual WIWW posts. Instead of posting a couple outfits I wore I’m showing you a cute outfit I put together {hello! warmer weather} and a little bit of my workspace from a different view point. I picked my favorite vintage Singer sewing machine to model next to ;]

I’m wearing:
lite pink tee, white tank, gray leggings ~ Target; olive skirt ~ Gap; spring blue headband ~ Gussy Sews

My amazing friend Molly gave me these vintage patterns — sigh, that gal, she is a real blessing from above and I wish we lived closer to each other!!! :]

Because a lot of my time is spent creating new products or sewing or blogging, I like to be comfortable when I’m working. Often times I don’t start work until 10am, but I work pretty late into the evening. Wearing something comfortable {which does includes jeans ~ i loooove a good pair of jeans} helps me to be more creative because I’m able to focus on the product and not what I’m wearing.

I’m playing around with the camera for the below shots. The image in the right is a reflection — the mirror is hanging above the Singer sewing machine and is near the door to my studio. The desk you see is part of my office space. I ♥ fun pics like that!

What piece of furniture in your home would you love to work into an upcoming photo shoot?

I LOVE the antique sewing machine! I have one very similar but {you won’t believe this} it’s currently in the garage, buried under many boxes. So sad…but a garage sale is upcoming and I hope to dust it off and bring it inside to show off!
    Love your blog too!

my in laws are moving and i found a vintage pattern from the late 60’s that is barbie pattern clothes. i want to display some creative way in my sewing space. i was so excited when i found it, everyone else thought i had lost my mind. there were even teeny tiny zippers and buttons.

i have boys so i won’t be sewing barbie clothes!

Gussey style – so adorable! Love the challenge to work in a piece of furniture. My hubby is a photographer, and my WIWW mirror pics drive him crazy! So, if I take him up on the “I’ll set up a tri-pod” for you, I’d probably work in my cozy white Ikea chairs. Better lighting too!

    Have a great week!

hi maggie! i love your spring outfit – i live in the south and i am so sick of the cold weather coming and going. i don’t think id be able to live in the north and deal with all the snow! i bet you are so ready for spring and summer!! (also can’t wait to see what you come up with for me to carry this summer *wink*) i love your vintage singer sewing machine! i see them all the time but don’t have anywhere to put one so i always have to leave them behind :( and hmm.. if i had to pick a piece of furniture it would have to be my grandmother’s gold table and mirror in my living room! :) have a great day!

I have a 1923 sewing machine table that I have in my studio. I love the little doors they have old rusty spool holders and little pull out drawers that hold all my jewelry supplies. It currently is my iewelry station where I bead and piece together new creations. I got it for $10 bucks at a thrift shop. The man wanted to get rid of it so my hubby snatched it up for me and we stuffed it into my 1992 Honda Accord, luckily it fit :) Happy Wednesday!

I want my Grandmas singer like that. My aunt has it at her house and this weekend she told me I can have it when she dies. I guess I will have to wait another 30 years or so but it’s mine soon enough!!

Im getting ready to give new life to some old victrola cabinets my dad has had sitting in the attic of his garage for years…and years…and years:) Thinking of making them into nightstands for next to our bed which is really high/tall. I dont know as Id model next to them though:)
I would model a WIWW outfit sitting in my “new” thrifted chair that I blogged about the other day though. Im loving it: http://handbagsnpigtails.blogspot.com/2011/03/new-chair.html
    Have a great day Maggie!

The only thing in my house that I think is somewhat worthy of a photo shoot is the mirror my hubby made for our bedroom. The rest of our house is a mishmash of old furniture, not really our style, but in our price range :)
