This post is dedicated to all my peeps born around 1985 who also love The Baby Sitter’s Club.
When I was about 9 years old {?}, I thought The Baby Sitter’s Club was the coolest thing to have ever been made. I was a member of the book // fan club, I watched the movie when it came out in 1995, and hello! I *was* a babysitter. Back then, I wanted to be just like these girls…

Any time a package came in the mail from TBC {which was never as often as I needed it to}, I would tear it open and start reading all 3 books at the same time. My dad would get so irritated with me — I tried to help him understand, but he just didn’t. Pre-teens, who can understand them?! *wink*

I remember thinking, These girls are just so cool, I want to be them. And really, now that some time has passed, I think my life was a lot like these girls lives. We rode bikes around town, through the neighborhood streets to each others houses. We had sleepovers, ate ice-cream, went on adventures while camping. We had silly boy crushes, got angry with our parents, and had little side jobs. The only difference is no one made a movie about us.

Andriana, Allyssa, Andrea and me. We were our own club of awesomeness ♥

Oh my goodness! My friends and I LOVED babysitter’s club! In fact, (can’t believe i’m about to admit this), we started our own babysitter’s club! Our mom’s made us take a CPR class because the knew no none would hire us being that young if we didn’t! ha ha! But, we got calls and babysat all the time! I remember one time, we may q-pons and sent them to our “clients” in the mail saying they could have $10 off if they used us. People actually used them! HA! great post. I’m new to your blog! Nice to “meet” you. xo, cat (Constant in Chaos)

I loved those books so much when I was in “tween!” Never watched the movie, but love, love, loved the books, although I did skip that page and a half where they described all the characters at the beginning of each book after a while.

I was born in 77 but I still loved these books. I tried to get my older daughters to like them, now that my youngest daughter is old enought to read I will try to get her interested. I guess I was not aware that there was a movie made. I am so excited, I am going to try to find it on netflix for our movie night tonight!!

Not only did I love these too but now Im stocking up on them for my girls! Ive so enjoyed finding the books, one by one, at thrift stores(in great condition!) & for like 29 cents a piece I cant go wrong.
Im also getting the Boxcar children series for them, have found a Girl Scout series I didnt know existed, and others. As you can tell, we’re big readers in our home:) And these series are much better than the dark, vampire books that are now gracing the shelves of every store in America for kids to read.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane:)

Oh yes, I loved the BSC! I spent alot of my pocket money on them! My parents wouldn’t let me babysit, so I tried to start my own cleaning company….that didn’t work so well. But I did beg my parents to go to Half Priced Books all the time so I could buy more.

These are my favorite along with the sweet valley twins.
I wanted to be Claudia so bad- I would wear 2 different clips in my hair and converse that didn’t match.
I want my daughters to read these books and the oldest told me, “seriously mom?”
So I will move on to the younger one!!!
I took them out of the library 10 at a time! I mean how many are there? 60?
I would even get permission to read at the dinner table because I was so into them.
I got to give the author credit- I am still a big reader today.
You are making me want to get the movie to watch with my girls.

I’m an ’85 baby, and when I was in the 4th grade, a couple of my friends and I bought a BSC pack from Scholastic – remember those awesome fliers with all the books you could order? Anyway, we waited WEEKS to get our packages from Scholastic, and they never came. So what did I, the sassy 9-year-old do? I wrote them a scathing letter and sent it via certified mail demanding to know where my (and my friends’) order was. They arrived within a week! But yes, LOVED BSC. LOVED. LOVED!

It’s funny that you posted this. I was at my mom’s house for dinner Sunday and ended up in her extra room which has all of the books from my childhood. I went through them all (including TBSC books). I chose a selection of RL Stine and Christopher Pike books (which later became the “Goosebumps” series) and the “Indian in the Cupboard” books to bring home and read again. They are sitting on my nightstand. I plan to read through them all and share them with my girls when they are old enough. Loved them and I always wished I had friends to make a club with.

I saved every little “newsletter” that came with the books in a binder and made up my very own “kid kit” of games and goodies for my babysitting adventures! I even convinced my parents to give me my own phone line when I turned 13 so I could start my own club. I still remember the moment it rang for the first time…. my dad called to tell me good luck :)

I was a mid 1984 baby and I saw this movie with my mom in the theater and remember saving all my babysitting money up with walk 18 blocks to get it on VHS only to find out I was literally $2 short so I walked all the way back borrowed $2 from my mom and then walked all the way back…lol so I came home and suprised my mom with it… and no joke watched it till it broke!!! I wanted nothing more than to have my very own babysitters club! I was a total book worm too… I lived two years on a houseboat and I would read all day and night book after book, I was as a 5th grader, into books that had a medical background like “nothing hurts but my heart.”

Yep, BabySitter’s Club and Sweet Valley High. Those were the books that started it all for me. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
    And the movie trailer! Wow!
Hopefully my girls will love The BSC as much as I did.
No I wasn’t a part of the fan club, BUT when I would get several of the books I’d finish them all in a day or two.
I remember taking a family trip, 18 hours in the car and I think I read 12 of the books.

So funny, just read some more of the comments and I wanted to be Claudia too, and yes, Logan *sigh*.

And I was born in ’79, so they were important to girls for a lot of years.
So happy to see them come back out, hopefully not too much has changed to modernize them. I think I’ll have to start buying them for when my girls are older.

That preview made me want to watch the movie all over again! I loved those books, read every single one of them. At least they were good role models!

HUGE fan of the babysitters club! I still have all my old books. If I ever have a little girl (fingers crossed!!) I will pass them down to her. I even think I would still enjoy reading them, especially since I know I still love other teen books (ahem Twlight and Harry Potter).

An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on this. And he in fact ordered me breakfast simply because I found it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending time to talk about this matter here on your web site.

Reflecting on this today 💓🕊 When I reflect o Reflecting on this today 💓🕊 When I reflect on the moments I’ve felt my mind spinning, my emotions swirly, it’s almost always when I’m not feasting on the word of God. Not that reading scripture is the cure for anxiety —no! Rather, it’s hard to worry when we’re worshipping.

I fought every internal comment I could think of a I fought every internal comment I could think of and took my kiddos for a looooong walk today before dinner. ❄️✨ There’s just so much work required to raise children! I’m feeling like a tired lady. But sunshine & fresh air are good companions to keep around.

We came home and I made “the best dinner ever”. Max specifically announced, “it’s so great you’re launching new meals to the world”. LOL— kids! 🤣👏🏻💓
How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤

But today! Today we reset the rhythm, and we have had a much happier home & time learning together. 👏🏻
