{Nourish, a line of baby products}

December 6, 2010 ·
Filed Under: giveaway, shop feature

This giveaway is now closed.

I’m really excited to share with you a new sponsor here at Gussy Sews, Melissa of Nourish. Nourish is a handmade, “complete line of organic washes, balms and oils in a assortment of lavender, coconut, sweet orange and eucalyptus scents.”

I like to think of Nourish products as never-ending gifts that give >> you use them on your baby, which helps her to relax. Because you applied them, you’ll be wearing the scent, too, so now you’re also relaxed :] Soon enough you’re snuggling together in the rocker and then you sniff your sweet babe’s hair and you both drift off to sleep…

I looooove aromatherapy // natural scents ♥ Enjoy this interview & giveaway!

***

What encouraged you to start your line of Nourish products?

My son developed severe eczema at 6 weeks of age due to multiple food and environmental allergies. I immediately went on a quest to find a way to soothe his skin. I knew that whatever I used on him I wanted it to be safe and truly all natural which ended up being hard to find. I’ve been an Aesthetician for the last ten years so I have a good understanding of ingredients and I was shocked at what some “all natural” products had on their ingredient list.

After enrolling in an herbalist course and learning about natural remedies for skin conditions I decided to start my own organic skin care line. My first product was my organic lavender oil and we’ve since grown into a line of organic washes, balms and oils in an assortment of lavender, eucalyptus, sweet orange and coconut scents. Everything is 99-100% organic with an ingredient list you won’t have to decode!

What are you most proud of?

The results and feedback! I love it when a parent tells me how much my products have helped their child’s skin. There is nothing more rewarding then that! It makes all the time and effort I put into my business completely worth it. I also love that I have a growing adult fan base. One of my best customers is a 6’11 basketball player who loves the lavender oil for himself!

What brings you inspiration?

Small businesses owned and operated by women! I am constantly inspired and encouraged when I see a woman, especially a mom, following her dream and giving it her all! I know firsthand how hard it can be to balance running a household and a business. There have been times where I’ve second guessed my ability to handle it all and then I meet a mom who has young kids along with a successful business and I get inspired again. It’s fun to connect with fellow women entrepreneurs…I think that we can all encourage each other!

What are you currently learning or reading?

I have a baby girl on the way so I am prepping for her arrival with a home study from Hypnobabies. Every night I listen to a CD that coaches me on how to focus my breathing and thoughts so I can relax and remain calm when the big day arrives! I love this birthing method because it is all about changing your mindset of what it’s like to give birth. If you envision it as a beautiful and miraculous experience that you can prepare yourself for and be in control of then it eliminates a lot of fear of childbirth. This elimination of fear and ability to remain calm has been shown to even reduce the of need of medical intervention!
