Filed Under: our home, the pup

A few weeks ago we ordered a rug for our living room. Zack and I have never lived in an all-hardwood floor house before, so bare floors is definitely new for us. We found a neutral shag rug for our bedroom but were still looking for something in the living room. Until a few weeks ago :]

The rug arrived over the weekend, along with a handful of smaller packages {fabric, yes!}, and Zack put everything in my studio… I went in there late Sunday evening and noticed the giant roll. He had confused the rug “roll” as a roll of home decor fabric :] Hah! {What? This isn’t normal?}

Here’s our new rug — along with some pics of Bauer.

See his mowhawk?

***

Funny stories:

– I “caught” Bauer under our bed today; He was crawling around under there. I couldn’t figure out what he was doing until I realized he couldn’t see how/where to get out. Our bed skirt is brown and it was dark under there, ha ha!!! Poor puppy.

– My mom told my our nephew Collin {5.5 years old} to come to the computer so they could watch a video of Bauer online. He said, What dot com do we go to?

Do you have nieces/nephews? What cute things do they say that melt your heart?

The best thing about hardwood floors is that if you put some socks on your feet and get a good running start, you can slide across the room. (You know, like skateboard/snowboard style.) The thicker and cushier the socks, the better you’ll slide. I grew up in a hardwood floored house. Just looking at your pictures here makes me want to slide…. :)

You have totally done what I want to do: stayed neutral with pops of color! It looks great.

We have ceramic tile throughout the living area; and I finally gave in about a month ago and got an area rug – definitely the biggest investment since I bought my car. lol.

I love your new rug, it looks perfect for the space! We have hardwood floors in our main living space as well, I love the look. I actually do have a niece that is two years old, she’s my sister’s daughter. Whenever I call my sister I can hear my niece in the background shouting, “I wanna talk to Auntie!” She’ll keep saying she wants to talk to me until she gets the phone, Of course as soon as she gets on she’s silent… haha! Kids are the best!

awww.. cute story about bauer & your nephew. my nephew, preston, is like my little baby. he was the first grandbaby. when i was pregnant in 2009, this was the conversation i had with my nephew:
me: “Preston, guess what?!? Aunt JJ is going to be a mommy!!”
Preston: “No, you not mommy, you just Aunt JJ.”
me: “That’s right, Preston.. I’m just Aunt JJ.”

Bauer is just the cutest little puppy! Or little puppy loves to hang out under our bed too. Although he tends to steal underwear (everyones) and hide them under there. Not cool.

I have been looking for a chair just like this for my black white and sievlr bedroom. I haven’t been able to locate anywhere. I looked online and have not been able to find. I was going to have one custom made and ordered from Indonesia. All the pieces in my bedroom are from HomeGoods but for some reason every HomeGoods I go to I can’t find something like this. If anyone sees in the NJ/ NY area please post. I would greatly appreciate it.

I fought every internal comment I could think of a I fought every internal comment I could think of and took my kiddos for a looooong walk today before dinner. ❄️✨ There’s just so much work required to raise children! I’m feeling like a tired lady. But sunshine & fresh air are good companions to keep around.

We came home and I made “the best dinner ever”. Max specifically announced, “it’s so great you’re launching new meals to the world”. LOL— kids! 🤣👏🏻💓
How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤
