{Quietly steps out of the corner…}

Hello. Ummm, I’m here to show you some projects from Home Ec — remember that class? It’s an online 5.5 week class just bursting {literally} with projects. And I’m a little behind. Oh, you weren’t keeping track? Whewwwwwww.

I finally photographed some projects I’ve made, so here they are. If you blogged with your Home Ec projects, link up below!

***

Project 2 — gift pouch

This project is by far one of my favorites. It has so many purposes — I would even use it as a little garment bag for when we’re traveling.

I love the parallel stitch lines {what is the proper name for this?!} — so pretty & simple.

***

Project 3 — reusable grocery bag

I can definitely see myself using this bag, but not for groceries ;] It’s toooo pretty! I made a little doily on the front, which I’m now wishing I made in a different print so it stood out more OR made it a little fluffier.

***

Project 5 — supplies roll-up

NOT my favorite project. First, I don’t have supplies to roll-up, secondly I had a hard time with the instructions. I read, re-read, and re-re-read them and still felt confused. Oh well, this is how I roll{-up}…

***

I’m working on the round bunting project next — CAN.NOT.WAIT to buy me some felt! Yeow!

What project are you working on?

Ooo, I love the ruffle on your tote bag – I kinda like it’s subtlety. It’s a detail that you discover once you’re up close and personal with the bag.

Once again, thanks for sharing with us – I always look forward to seeing what you come up with! -emily

I loved the gift pouch as well! I showed my Dad and he said it was too pretty to give away! :) I have not tackled the roll up yet either…mainly because I too don’t really have supplies I need to roll up. I could do my knitting needles like some people have done, but I have cases for them already. Also, haven’t found any oilcloth I like and am scared to work with it! Is that oilcloth you used, or just reg. fabric? Where do you find all your cute fabrics? online? I’m looking for a good source. I don’t have a blog, nor have I photographed any of my projects, or I would share. But it’s fun seeing yours!! ;)

I didn’t use oil cloth — I don’t really like to work with it so I decided “nope” this time. I buy a lot of fabric online, http://www.HawthorneThreads.com, or at local fabric shops. xoxo.

I had the same issue with the roll-up. I think if there are too many words my eyes start to glaze over. I normally just look at the pictures and try to figure it out. Visual learner, much?

I totally <3 your tote bag. Love the fabric you went with.

The roll up is perfect for makeup brushes when your traveling! And its way cuter (and probably cheaper) then most of the ones in the stores!

    Oh, home ec class…
I wish at that time I didnt take you as a joke or scream everytime the needle got jammed in the flannel pajamas that I had to make for a grade.

Home Ec actually did teach me to sew…If only I could go back there now.

I’m feeling like a tired lady. But sunshine & fresh air are good companions to keep around.

How about a little Wednesday night introduction? 😘Social media sure has changed over the years and we don’t always SEE who we’re following or remember WHY we’re following certain accounts.

So, hello! As you can gather, my name is Maggie ;)

I started writing online (almost 13 years ago) to share the handmade products I was sewing. My shop was called Gussy Sews. ✂️👛I love the community that has grown from sewing & sharing online.

Let’s FFW to today: Zack and I live in Michigan and have four young children (2 boys & 2 girls). I slowly left the handmade industry and walked right into homemaking, homeschooling, and encouraging women through writing. 💕📝

Motherhood has been very hard on me. (And not just because of how close in age our four children are.) It’s been hard for me because I fought for years to accept that *it’s supposed to be hard*.

I mean, how do you effectively teach another person to know and love the Lord? Bc that’s how I think of motherhood: a calling to nurture others by studying the One who nurtures me. So I gotta make the first move: study the Bible and seek Him first. As my friend Autumn reminded me, vulnerability births transformation.

(I’ve had to be really vulnerable!)

So, yes motherhood has fully transformed me. But even more so, Christ has fully transformed me. My list of “all that He’s done for me” is off to a beautifully long start.

Something else I want you to know about me: I stalled for years before acknowledging I have anxiety and depression. It’s hard to talk about this because of course this isn’t forever “my hardship”, but rather because acknowledging this means to heal I have to work through some really difficult things. ✨

But my friend Jesus walks alongside me. He’s already done a mighty work in my heart, including helping me process my anger in healthier ways. I’ve also adopted a heart for sisterhood, mothering, and Titus 2 mentorship.

Sometimes our greatest losses are our greatest gains? That’s what I’m clinging to!

How about you? Tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you on a deeper heart level. 🖤🖤

But today! Today we reset the rhythm, and we have had a much happier home & time learning together. 👏🏻
