Two activities I love…

Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, then, put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations, and say continually: The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart has trusted in Him and I am helped. He is not only with me, but in me and I in Him. – Francis de Sales

A quote I love…

An (old) dog I love…

A hearty, roasted salad I love…

A nail polish color I love…

A bookshelf I love…

A book I love (currently reading)…

And another book I love (recently finished)…

Today is April 3rd. It’s the first Monday of the month and my mom’s birthday. Happy birthday, Mom! It feels right to share some things I’ve been enjoying lately. We’ve had a lot of things to process, plan, and share over the telephone. To be able to document and share some things that have brought me joy feels like the right thing to do. Consider this post a visual “stop.” It’s a call to notice the small things that exist alongside the hard. These small things don’t need to fight for attention, nor are they wrong to exist despite the ease they bring to my life. These small things I love, in a way, cleanse the air I breathe so that breathing feels easy.

This post is for the love of living.

For the love of noticing what’s beautiful today.

This post is for the shield I am resting behind, and the One who is with me.

Happy Monday, my friends.

xoxo, Maggie

I love these kinds of posts, Maggie. It’s so grounding to look around and focus on what’s going well despite all of the things there are to worry about. And I’m thrilled that you’re reading more Wendell Berry — Hannah Coulter was such a good one!

You and your family are still in my thoughts. I so appreciate your openness and honesty on this journey!

Thank you, Katie friend :) since I’m nearly finished with my current read, do you have a fictional book to recommend to me? (My guess is yes :))

YES! Have you read the Gilead series by Marilynn’s Robinson yet? The first book is titled Gilead and I think you will adore it. I’m so happy to hear that you’re still managing to find the time for some fiction reading. I maintain that it’s good for our souls! ❤️
