Weaving new threads…

A very special memory of Natalie “wishing me luck” before I left the house to set up for a Gussy market. It’s been very sweet to have the kids ask me about what I’m making, ask me to use my sewing machine to fix a hole in their favorite pajama pants or blanket, seeing one of my pouches and pointing to the wooden button while reminding me it says Gussy Sews.

While sewing is a bit more sporadic these days, showing my children the value that comes with spending time pursuing our interests & talents is so important to Zack and I. We both have personal interests that are very different from how we spend our daytime hours, but it’s rewarding to show our children HOW we set aside time to do these things.

I mean, Gussy is what I made before I became a mother. It’s what I spent all of my day time and free time hours on. It’s what brought us to Tanzania in 2012, brought us closer together, brought our family a new thread to weave through our life story. Sewing and creating hasn’t gone away now that I’m a mother, it just looks very different, definitely. What other way would I want?
