It’s so fun to share handmade shops that I stumble upon while poking around online, and Delezhen is one of those gems ;) — no pun intended. Masha creates beautifuuuuul jewelry in New York; we adore her work. You can see my Aquamarine ring from her shop here. We love working with Delezhen, which is partly why I’m so excited for this weeks giveaway! I’ve created a “one of a kind” mini wristlet to pair with a green bezel ring from Masha’s shop (size 7). Our mini wristlet includes a stitched “g” on the backside — it’s so super cute!

Something else I like is how colorful Delezhen is… mmm, color :) It makes me happy!

I’m thankful for so many people that inspire me in my life! The person that first came to mind is my sweet friend battling cancer. She has been battling it for over 5 years now! She is in lots of pain, and has had more surgeries/treatments than anyone can keep track of, and she has no family, no-one. BUT she loves the LORD. She doesn’t complain, I know she grows so weary, but she has been such a testimony in my life. I would love to give her this as a gift!

The dog hit my hand before I finished. 😝

I recently went back to school full time and the very first day of class, I sat next to a young girl, F. just out of high school. Our professor had us interview each other as an icebreaker and I learned she was attending this accelerated degree career college because her mom was an addict and had left her and her two sisters – age 5 and 3 – alone, never came back. So she, having just turned 18, tried to obtain custody of her sisters – she had been essentially raising them their entire life. The Department of Children’s services opened a case and are letting the sisters stay with her temporarily – they are monitoring her progress. this girl is working full time to provide a room – that she shares with herself and her two sisters in an apartment with another single mom who has 4 children. She doesn’t drink or smoke. She was taking 3
8 buses a day to get the kids to daycare, get to school (two towns over) and then to her job and to get her sisters and then home. She also takes buses to get to an actual grocery store – the markets in her neighborhood don’t sell fresh food, and she wants to feed her sisters and herself with healthy food. And she walks to church – every Sunday … Many blocks, to offer thanks to God for the opportunities and support he provides her with. That first day of school, I had noticed she had doodled in her planner – little mantras and positive messages to herself : a lightbulb with the words “think BIG” , you can do this, God is carrying you. – things like that. I remember thinking she was so young to be so enlightened, and when I interviewed her I thought – She is so young to be carrying so much – and with such Grace!!!! She inspires me daily!!!!! I offered to pick up for school – as I drive through the city to get to school. She was so grateful! She would text me each night to thank me and tell me to remember to say my prayers and that I was in hers. 💖 once I secured after school care for my 9 and 11 yo, so I was racing the clock to make it there exactly when their bus did, I offered to drive her to work on my way home. We started to make pit stops in the afternoon – Walmart, where her money can go further than at the corner store in the city. A farmers market. Goodwill to find her a bureau. She works so hard – she works for minimum wage and is still the 3rd ranked employee (telemarketing for political campaigns) – she is working to hit #1 because they give that persona a raise. She earned and is maintaining a 3.7 GPA. She asked for my help on how to enroll her sister in kindergarten for next Fall. I bring her lunch to school everyday when I pack mine – and I bring one for another young girl there who wasn’t eating because she didn’t have money to buy lunch. That girl is the youngest of 8 siblings – her mom is disabled and yet has custody of almost all of this young girls nieces and nephews, and this girl works 3 part time jobs to help pay the rent with her mom And raise her nieces and nephews – space is so limited she has to share a bed with one of her nieces. F reached out to this classmate too, inviting her to go to church with her and her sisters. I brought them a bag of clothes that my two oldest daughters were no longer interested in – and F asked if she could share them with the young mother she lives with. When I first met F she was shy and focused on getting a certificate and a job. Since we have become friends, she is looking into continue school after she gets a job in the field to get her bachelors degree. She talks about one day getting her license and buying a cat – the first person in her family to do either. she was also the first person in her family to graduate high school! and now she’s attending college. I surprised her with the leathers permit book and told her that when she passed the test, I would teach her to drive/let her practice in my car. In spite of difficult circumstances and burdens beyond what most adults experience – and they are those of her mom’s, not her doing, F is rising above with a Faith in God and positive attitude that is inspiring. She recently told me how she cooked a Sunday dinner after church for her sisters, her roommate and her roommates children, and shyly said “I know the families at my church have family dinners on Sunday and I have wanted to have family dinners for my whole life. I think maybe family can be who you let into your heart, even if they are not related by blood. Do you think I can have family dinners, with my friends?” and I hugged her as hard as I could and said, You absolutely can create your own family, F! And how blessed are those whom you invite to your table.” That girl makes me want to do more, be better – daily!!!

She carved & painted wood treasures and created the most whimsical characters out of gourds she grew. We used to host my BOOtique together every Fall. Joan left me some of her unfinished work to complete as well as 100’s of gourds to make my own . I so miss her creative spirit! ❤️you Joanie!

I have a friend that start a non-profit group that makes sack lunches for kids in our community that are low income. The lunches get sent home with the kids after school so they have something to eat that night.

My friend Leslie inspires me! She is such an amazing person and thinks about others before herself! She has 2 kids – one of which is 2 months old with special needs – and she still had time to make us a full dinner and bring it to is when we had our baby a few weeks ago! We need more people like her in the world!

Cari – her baby girl went to live with Jesus at 8 months, her husband is fighting brain cancer for the SECOND time, and she is still pouring herself out in service to those around her (and she recently started an Etsy shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/printedjoy)

I’m inspired by my childhood friend who has 3 kiddos, a full-time stressful nursing gig, and still finds time to make fun and geeky crochet dolls as a side business.

Also inspired by all the beautiful handmade shops you feature!
