Yesterday I found myself surrounded by fabric scraps at my feet and I felt like my heart was going to explode from creative happiness. It hasn’t been easy to find myself so absorbed in fabric and new ideas that I lose track of time — there’s a handsome little guy who seems to squeak + squawk at all the wrong times ;) But suddenly, yesterday, I found myself surrounded by fabric scraps. I had just laid Max down for his afternoon nap and so far he was in dreamland, so I quickly started working. I prepped some samples for a couple of new products. He was still sleeping. Then I cut out what I needed. Yep, still asleep. Finally I sat down at my machine and yeowwwwwww, finished a small batch of new Gussy products.

It felt amazing, like seriously so amazing. Creative ruts are the worst! And honestly, I have been feeling especially uncreative these last few weeks. It’s been terrible. I know we have a ton going on with our upcoming move [thank you for your prayers!] but it’s not like me to have dry spells like that. When inspiration hits I’m learning to take advantage of it, even if it means simply writing down a thought or taking a screenshot of a spark just waiting to turn into a flame. I am so excited for all of the changes within the Gussy Sews team, we’re headed for the right track and I feel so blessed. I can’t wait to share with you all that we’ve been working on :) I love sewing fresh samples of new product! But, there’s more than new product to share with you guys — so stay tuned! xo

PS. almost ONE YEAR ago we left Minneapolis for Los Angeles. Can you believe it???? It’s been a crazy, adventure-filled year. We’ve learned so much, have experienced a lot of pain through growth [hehe, helloooo labor + c-section in March] and have loved hard. We are so proud of this online community and much of my inspiration comes for you. So thank you…

    Good for you! Your posts are always an inspiration. My two little lovies (21 months and 8 weeks) leave me next to no “me” time. The stars seem to align for a magical hour in the afternoon when they are both napping but I can do is lay on the couch. In silence. Sometimes have a cup of coffee, but just laying. Someday I will be productive during this time like you!

      @Sarah, It has definitely taken me months to get to this point. Max seems to be sticking to a more consistent schedule, which is a relief ;) The other day I laid down during Max’s naptime and ended up falling asleep myself. Bummmmer, right?!

    It feels like a whole new world when you are able to get work done during nap time. It’s so hard. I remember many days of frustration. I’m so happy you had some time to work and dream and create!

    Yay for sleeping babies. I love mine, but afternoon nap time is a favorite time!

    Can’t wait to see the result of this creative inspiration! It’s almost as if God knew you needed some creative time, so he put your man into a nice, deep, Godly sleep! Praise the Lord! Proud for you! Can’t wait to see the new products {I know, I already said that}. One year?? What an adventure! Thanks for being such an inspiration!

    I love..absoltuely LOVE when creativity + a bit of free time strikes! I’ve been on creative overdrive lately but have 3 littles, so I’m trying to keep track of every idea and just trust that God will give me the time…someday…to put those ideas to use!! {your pictures…those scraps…can totally see why you were excited!!}
