It seems like forever since we last had a relaxing weekend at home. Zack has been working so much this summer, and last weekend Max and I were in Colorado celebrating the marriage of two awesome people. Saturday morning came and the Whitley house was quiet as a mouse; we all slept in. It was glorious. We have been aching for some quiet time and Saturday did a spectacular job delivering.

Once we woke up I set the maker to brew us some coffee. I like mine with a big splash of hazelnut creamer; hubby likes his black. For the last few months I’ve been making these banana muffins and ohhhhh my, they are delish. I add a few sprinkles of cinnamon to the mix, that’s my secret ingredient ;)

Throughout the morning we sipped coffee and ate muffins, and I’m confident I ate too many. My heart melted a bit as Zack read Maxwell books and Bauer took a few naps. Oh, to be a dog :) This particular morning there was no where to be… No one needed anything, because everything we could have needed was within an arms reach. That’s one lovely perk to our tiny Los Angeles apartment… nothing is ever lost for long and there’s hardly time to miss anyone. I love it. We experience so much together and are bonded as a family, constantly.

It’s very comforting to be at home with my boys.

After a bit we ventured out for an adventure to The Getty Museum. It’s incredible to me how such a gorgeous, nature-filled place can exist within the city noise. Sometimes Zack and I ache for more quietness, so whenever we find ourselves treading in it we soak in as much as we can. It’s like a reset button for us. We are always on the lookout for more places like this… Yes.

Don’t tell anyone, but I think we enjoyed walking the grounds of The Getty more than the inside exhibits ;)

Maxwell was such a good babe. He stole the hearts of a few gals and that was precious to witness. He is an incredibly happy, giggly baby. When he smiles he scrunches his nose — every time. His smile lights up a room, and he’s not quite 5 months old. I love him :)

We were blessed with a really beautiful Saturday…

…and it set the tone for another beautiful day on Sunday. We rested at home, sat outside for quite a bit — enjoying our coffee while Maxwell napped, chatting with the neighbors, awing over the humming bird that stopped mid-flight just a few feet above us. We tidied our home as candles burned and music hummed in the background. We laundered a few loads of clothes, removed the dust, and bickered just a tiny bit.

Hey, it happens — right??? :)

We had a glorious weekend and I hope you did, too.

Here’s to a fresh, new day…

Weekends like that are so precious…few and far between sometimes, huh? Guess that’s what makes them so precious. Glad you got your recharge! Blessings for a equally fabulous week!

I love the Getty! Have you ever been to the Getty house in Malibu? I’d love to go there sometime as well.
