{Quilted Treasures, a quilt shop}

This giveaway is now closed.

Today’s post is sponsored by Quilted Treasures and is one that makes me super happy. Quilt shops are so fun to visit and the community of women that shop there are gems. Seriously, they are so wise and full of love. I am really looking forward to the many years of learning more and more about sewing that are ahead of me.

The story behind Kristina and Quilted Treasures is so great — and I hope you love this feature & giveaway. Family is so important & special {a little shout-out to our families in Michigan!}. And cozying up with a handmade blanket, no matter how detailed it was to make, is the best! ♥

***

Share a little bit about yourself and Quilted Treasures.

Me: Wife to Matt (5 years!), mom to Alaina (almost 4) and baby Bridget (4 months). Alaina is currently sticking scotch tape to my face as I “work from home” this chilly Minnesota AM. SUPER. We also have a Beagle named Duke! I LOVE to sew, quilt, take pictures, drink coffee, scrapbook, organize, clean, cities 97, shop, read, work out (RUN+YOGA!) and wait for the mail to come. When I am not doing any of that, you can usually find me doing glamorous things like folding laundry, washing bottles, emptying the dishwasher or playing with the kiddos :]

Quilted Treasures is owned by my mother-in-law Mary. She is one of my best friends, so I am extremely grateful to be able to work with her on a daily basis. I started quilting in college (when Matt and I started dating and I met Mary) and began working at the shop part-time over 5 years ago. My job has changed a lot. I started working the sales floor and folding fabric/making kits. I then began doing more office type/clerical work. We started a website in 2006 and I have been maintaining it since. After Alaina was born (2007), QT became my “full-time” job. I’m there a few days a week and work from home the others. My main job now is maintaining our website, running our etsy fabric shop, maintaining our facebook page, and planning/implementing shop displays. We also vend a few times a year, so booth planning and set-up are an enjoyable part of my work as well!

Overall, we strive to provide sewers and quilters with an amazing fabric selection, inspiring samples & displays and exciting classes. We offer a wide variety of fabrics including baby, modern, minky/cuddle, civil war, batiks, northwoods, flannel, florals and more! Current classes range from sewing basics, intro to quilting, bags and totes, applique techniques, machine quilting and advanced quilt making. We also design a lot of our own quilt patterns, so there are definitely things you won’t see anywhere else!

Quilted Treasures is located at 14178 Northdale Blvd, Rogers, MN 55374

What inspires you?

OH MAN! Where to begin?? I read A LOT of blogs :] There are SO many inspiring and talented people out there that create really gorgeous things! I draw quite a bit of inspiration from the web. A person can waste the day away browsing flickr and etsy! I am also really inspired by fellow sewers and quilters. I host a Young Mom’s (not everyone is a mom) Sewing Group at QT once a month — what a wonderful group of ladies! They constantly encourage me to challenge myself and try new things. There is always room for more people, join us! More info on our classes page :]

I also started the Twin Cities Suburban Modern Quilt Guild last Spring, which has been a wonderful platform to meet new people and expand on our knowledge and skills. We are still growing, so new members are always welcome! Each meeting usually consists of a sewing/quilting topic or skill. We do “show + tell” of current projects and plan on doing more swaps and challenges in the coming year.

Share with us a favorite handmade purchase or shop.

HUGE FAN of Kal Barteski.

Some recent Etsy purchases…
* Baby Booties from TresBelleKnits
* Owl Matching Game from Lemon Tree Studio

Current Wish list:
* Buckets from Brody and Ma
* Cute Sign from Harper Grace

What would you like to learn to do?

I’d really like to learn about + master my new camera (Nikon D5000) and improve my photography skills. Also interested in knitting and jewelry making, but those might have to wait until the kids are in school and I win the lottery to support all of my hobbies :]

    Awesome shop! I love that they have a brick and mortar store too. I always like to see people’s real stores and how they have them set up. If I won, I would probably use the gift card to buy a fat quarter bundle from their etsy shop. I love fabric and I’m getting ready to start making little dollies :)
