{a simple way to improve your business cards}

I’m so glad I saw Stephanie’s post about biz cards.

My stash was getting really low and I knew I wanted a new design, so her advice came at the perfect time. My new cards are in {above} and I lurve them :] I feel like they match my blog in a way — they are cute {in my opinion} and fun on the front, but full of information on the backside.

(I see my blog as visually pretty with lots of information behind-the-scenes.)

Stephanie says,

    “…remember the most ignored space – the back of your business card. It’s usually wasted space, but can be prime real estate, where you share your story. For heaven’s sake, don’t leave it blank. Here is the front of my card and then surprise, the back of my card tells what I love to do.

Amen.

Be sure to read her post and receive a few more of her tips!

*

For my new cards —
On the front I made my product in it’s entirety (instead of just the ruffle) the main focus on the card. The secondary focus is my business name.

On the backside I added my twitter handle to my contact info, along with a handful of words that describe “Gussy Sews” (ruffles, sewing, inspiration, dream-catching, adventuring, L O V E).

If you have a handmade shop I really encourage you to include your products on your card. Also, wear/use your products daily, right Jess? *wink*

Five great places to distribute your biz card ~

* when packaging your product {add an extra for the recipient to give away}
* in your purse — hand them out when someone compliments your product
* with your signed receipt {going out to dinner? include a card when you write in the tip & sign your name}
* at your favorite coffee shop
* when asked, where do you work? ;]

Share: if you had to choose six words to be printed on your business cards, what would they be?

    to date. i have always LOVED your business cards the best.
    thanks.
    i’m just about to embark on actually paying someone to make my business cards for me. (instead of printing myself – uck.)
    so now i must figure out which pictures to use on my cards. hmmmm.

    I love them! The only thing that I would change – the picture on the front has two loose strings coming off the ruffle. Trim those & retake the picture before your next order & they’ll be perfect!

    Oh, & unless you want everyone to call you Gussy (which is fine!), you might include your name under “Contact Info” above your email/twitter name.

    Hopefully, I can hold one of these beauties soon when I (finally) get to order my own Gussy creation!

    Love the new cards! Where from?

    I think I might put: for you, for baby, for home. And maybe soon I can add For Fido. With my own new puppy arriving, I suspect I’ll be making more dog stuff. :)

    Yay, thanks so much for doing a post about business cards! I just designed some this week at overnightprints.com too! (glad to see that you use them because its so hard to know what supplier if best!) I’m so tired of my cheapo vistaprints and wanted something with product photos. Yours look awesome! :)

    not to take away anything from the company you use, but just wanted to put the company Moo out there too. they have awesome customer service & offer regular size biz cards, plus adorable mini cards…so many uses! the reason i like them is because i don’t have to pick just one image…i think you can have up to 25 per pack! that way i don’t have such a hard time choosing the pics of my knit & sewn creatures for my cards! just an idea! http://us.moo.com/products/minicards.html

    These are so cute! I love what you suggested about including a few with your product. I ordered an amazing planner from Erin Condren, and have given out all 10 of the cards she included! =) Even better if they have a discount code for the next buyer on them!
