I’m not sure what it is about balloons…

But lately they are making me so happy!

Balloons are so carefree & fun…

They are so happy and full of celebratory-ness.

And here at Gussy has a lot to say {and sew}, we sure like to celebrate! :]

***

The week has gone by fast.

{What did I expect with Monday off?}

And now it’s Thursday… our 2nd anniversary is Monday (June 7). And, we have no clue what we are doing to celebrate! We wanted to go to a B&B. But then I quit my day-job. And Tuesday night we *finally* made a decision & bought a MacBook for my biz. Our life has changed oh-so much these last few weeks. All positive things, of course! Maybe we’ll just go back to Lake Calhoun both days this weekend and find a cheap place for breakfast? Would that work, you think?

PS. there is a HUGE box here from my parents and it’s sooooooooooo hard to not open it! :]

***

Last year we were celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary, and that brings back a lot of emotions. Zack and I were at month #5 (of 7) of unemployment when we celebrated.

Since we didn’t have ANY spending money we went to my parents cottage for the weekend. It was so sweet of them to offer a weekend alone at the cottage. Ironically, Friday evening, when we were leaving for our trip, Zack came home from work and said, I lost my job. Again.

He was working at a landscaping company after losing his “career” job in January. Sigh… But we took those lemons and turned them into lemonade. Since Zack didn’t have to be back to work on Monday we stayed an extra day at the cottage.

How perfect, right? God always knows exactly what we need. And even though the weekend was mostly rainy, we had a blast. We watched a half dozen of movies, ate lots of popcorn, slept-in every morning, had campfires each night, played lots of Monopoly {the same set my mom used as a kid!}. It was perfect.

So now I feel like I’m really looking forward to having an inexpensive weekend. It’s crazy to look at our life a whole year later — all the things we’ve gone through, the bonding Zack and I have done, yes, the heartache over missing our families, but also in the celebration that we have a God that will always take care of us.

{wipes tears.}

Happy {almost} year #2 babes!

TOPIC CHANGE! :]

I have some new sponsors in my sidebar to the right.

And, Jaime with Fine Prints is offering a 20% discount to Gussy readers during the month of June on any existing invitation or birth announcement design in her shop. How fun! So go on now, see if you need anything…

What are your plans today? I’ll be finishing up some Damask laptop bags, some idance polka dot clutches, and prepping for more new items!

    Happy 2 years and blessings of many many many more.
    There have been several anniversaries where we couldn’t afford to do something extravagant… we celebrated nonetheless :)
    Your plans to do something local and inexpensive sound perfect and romantic. It’s not where you are but who you are with, right?

    Happy 2 Year Anniversary! Lake Calhoun looked gorgeous and you both had such a great time there that I say it is definitely time to go back! Perhaps you could take a picnic with you and have it by the secret door? or somewhere else really nice? I think that the best time spent is when you aren’t spending money-like one of my favorite things to do with D is to take a nice long walk at dusk with our doggie.

    Whatever you both end up doing, I am sure you will have a glorious time! Be sure to take pictures!!
    smiles & blessings,

    We had planned for a big trip for our anniversary too. Remember we have the same anniversary? But, we decided to save some money and we’re going to Galveston for the weekend – the town where we got married.

    It’s crazy all that’s happened in 2 years, right?

    Happy 2 Years! Something that we started with our first anniversary was to give each other a traditional gift for each anniversary…it has been a lot of fun trying to figure out that perfect gift that has to go with the traditional theme.

    Just an idea. Enjoy the weekend!

    Hi Gussy: I think that some of the most romantic things are either really cheap or free. How about taking a short road trip to some cool place, finding a mom and pop type of restaurant (they usually have the best food anyway), having a meal, taking walk and for flowers, you can give HIM some flowers out of your own backyard. Many Sunday mornings my bf picks out the pretties flowers in my yard and makes two bouquets. He puts one in my bedroom and one in the living room. Some people might look at them and think “cheap”, I look at them and think “awww he wants me to look at my pretty flowers even when I’m indoors.” I love inexpensive little adventures. They are fun and easy on the wallet.
